Script for the Assembly tomorrow!

Roland: welcome to the amethyst class news my name is Roland and we will be giving our class assembly as a news cast.
Mr. Y: Good morning Bush hill park we have lots of news to get to so let’s start with special field reporter Salman who is talking to a team that is constructing a new building in Enfield
Salman: Thank you Mr. Y, I’m here with a few of the workers who have been hired to build the new sky scrapper in Enfield. Andre you are the site manager can you tell us why you chose this particular area of the city to build on.
Andre: yes absolutely, you see at first this particular lot was £500,000 but the price was reduced by 50%
Salman: wow 50% that sounds like a great deal! How much did you end up paying for the lot?
Andre: We had to first find out what 50% was as a fraction, we found out that the fraction was ½ and ½ of £500,000 is £250,000
Salman: great now let’s talk to Rhiana about the size of the sky scrapper,
Rhiana what can you tell us about the size of the building
Rhiana:  the building will take up 1500M² as it will be 100M in length and 500M in width, and with our expert in Volume we know exactly how much physical space the building will take up.
Karol: since we already know the length and width of the building, in order to find the total volume of the building we need to add the height of the sky scrapper, which is 100M tall making the volume 500,000M³
Salman: Thanks Karol, now on to the building’s designer Dilek, what can you tell us about the looks of the building?
Dilek: the building will have symmetrical triangular design on each side of the building.
Salman: Can you show us how you made sure that it was the same symmetrically?
(Dilek shows how to reflect a triangle)
Fascinating! Back to you Mr. Y!
Mr. Y: Thank you Salman, can’t wait to see the building when it is done!
Up next we’ll talk to our expert in plants, Zyrone
Zyrone: Thank you Mr. Y, today we are going to talk about the different parts of the flower. There are two different parts of the flower, the male reproductive parts and the female as well.
The male parts or the Stamen of the flower are the : anther, filament and pollen
The female parts or Carpel include the : stigma, style and ovary
These parts help the flower make pollen and allow insects like bees to collect and spread it to others.
Mr. Y: thanks zyrone very insightful
Arif: trees and plants aren’t that different, a tree is like a plant that is really big and has massive roots that stretch for metres under the ground. Trees help us breath by taking in carbon dioxide and producing oxygen.
Mr. Y: thank you Arif! now onto MAtey who is with Suhayb we're all ears boys
Matey: I’m here with Suhayb, he will tell us about how our ears allow us to hear sound
Suhayb: it’s quite easy to explain and yet very elaborate. You see sound waves enter the ear and allow the hammer to vibrate on the anvil which sends a signal through the nerves that connect to the brain allowing us to hear sounds.
Matey: very interesting indeed, can you tell us how many parts of the ear there are?
Suhayb: certainly there are three parts do you know them?
Matey: I believe they are the outer, middle and inner ear.
Suhayb: that’s correct!
Matey: great! Back to you Mr. Y
Mr. Y: thank you  gentlemen very informative, next up we talk to our leading experimental scientists to find out exactly what they have been researching
Elijah: in class we have been learning about different material such as wood glass brick and plastics. These help us to build houses and schools
Mr. Y: and where have you seen these materials in school? Can you give any examples?
Elijah: bricks to make walls inside the school, wood to make doors and shelves and glass to make windows.
Mr. Y: excellent thanks for that!
Rebecca: we have also been looking at what the best  carrier bag would be when carrying heavy objects
Charlie: we found this out by testing different carrier bags in a fair test using a wooden dowel, some plasticine and a ruler
Rebecca: we filled bags with heavy materials and placed the handles of the bag on the plasticine that was wrapped around the dowel.
Charlie: then we waited 20 seconds and removed the bags from the dowel and measured how much the handles cut into the plasticine
Elijah: in the end it was this carrier bag that was the most comfortable as it cut the least into the plasticine.
Mr. Y: Amazing research gang! Well done!
As we move on now we will talk to Bruno, who is with an expert in eating healthy
Bruno: thank you Mr. Y, I’m here with Rivellah our expert in healthy eating. What can you tell us about how to eat healthy
Rivellah:  it is important to eat 5 fruits and 5 veg every day, this helps our bodies as it makes sure that we have the necessary nutrients.
Bruno: that’s great information, but what would you suggest as a serving size? I have hear that one serving should fit in your hand is this true?
Rivellah: yes! That is correct, you have done your homework!
Alex: one of the nutrients we can get from food is vitamins, our body needs these to stay healthy and fight of sickness, and we can get vitamins from many foods like oranges, carrots and many more!
Jamie: another nutrient is calcium, this helps our bones get stronger, we get calcium from dairy products like milk, yoghurt and cheese!
Anisa: Water script
Mr. Y: Wow, more great information! Thanks boys and girls!  Now on to susan and Courtney who will tell us a bit about what we have been learning in ICT with Mr. Singh
Susan: reads own script
Courtney: reads own script
Mr. Y: amazing! Safety online is paramount! We all need to stay safe!
Now on to Andrea who is reporting on Sikhism
Andrea: reads script
Mr. y: up next rhea who has information about drugs
Rhea: I’m here to tell you that there are two types of drugs
Mr. Y: wait what? What do you mean?
Rhea: the good drug is a drug that can help your body, we call this medicine. The bad kind can damage your body and have long term effects. We call those drugs
Mr. Y: interesting, do you have any facts about drugs that our students may find useful?
Rhea: gives facts
Mr. Y: Wow, truly fascinating facts thanks Rhea! Now on to Oliver to talk to us about puberty and changes
Oliver: read script
Rhoda: introduces PANTS
Whole Class: says letters only
Mr. Y: that was Amethyst class this last term, until next time.

Mr. Yaworski Interview! getting to know me!

Who are you?
My name is Tim Yaworski; most of the kids call me Mr. Yaworski or Mr. Y.
Where are you from?
I am a Canadian from the town of Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada.
Do you have any family?
Yes! I have an awesome and supportive family back home in Canada, My Mum and Dad and older brother are all back home along with my dog Buck! MY Finance has also joined me in this journey and is working as a teacher’s assistant in the country as well!
What are you favorite hobbies?
Growing up in Canada it’s no secret that I played Ice hockey, though I do play rugby, baseball, football. I also love music, singing and playing guitar are other hobbies that I have.
What made you get into teaching?
Teaching has always been a career that I valued growing up, though I wasn't the best student growing up I would have to claw and scratch for every passing mark, I always valued the hard work that educators put into every class every day. When I went on to University it was an easy decision to follow my passion for helping others through education.
What is you biggest value or trait you look for in your students and yourself?
I tell my kids when I walk into a classroom for the first time, exactly what I expect from them:
Honesty; don't ever lie to me, how will I believe you anytime thereafter if you do?
Hard work; it may be cliché, but I expect 100% effort from my students, giving your all is paramount in my classroom. I'm a firm believer that answers are not given to students but found by them. Education is a two way street, there are times when students need to find out answers to their own questions in order to gain a deeper understanding of what it is they seek to know.
